18/18.- Ouro Preto,
Casa de Câmara e Cadeia
This beautiful building,
the Casa de Câmara e
Cadeia, is one of the
landmarks of Ouro Preto.
It sits in the town's main square.
Work on the Casa de
Câmara started in 1784,
but the building was
not finished until 1836.
Black slaves and prisoners
were forced to work on its
construction. The building
currently hosts a mining museum,
and an exhibition hall.
The town of Ouro Preto
has a lively nightlife, thanks to
students of the Universidade
Federal. The town's main
festivals are during the Carnival,
the Holy Week and October the 12th.
Well my friend that is it, this
